Coin Strike review: the arcade game that quietly ate my week

September 16, 2026 · Mikael Rantanen

I downloaded Coin Strike expecting a throwaway time-killer and ended up playing it on three separate bus rides in a single day. The premise is plain — flick coins across a board, clear the layout, chase a lower shot count — but the physics give it real staying power.

The thing I keep coming back to is how fair it feels. When I miss a shot, it's almost always because I misjudged the angle, not because the game cheated me. That clarity makes retrying addictive instead of frustrating. Coin Strike understands that a good arcade game should make failure instructive.

A tip for new players: don't aim for the obvious coin first. Look for the shot that sets up a chain, even if it's a harder angle. Once I started thinking two moves ahead, my scores dropped dramatically and the later stages opened up.

Performance deserves a mention too. It runs clean on my old phone with no stutter, and there's no loading screen between attempts. For a game built around quick retries, that matters more than any flashy effect.

It won't change your life, but it'll absolutely ruin your plans for a quiet ten minutes. That's a compliment.
