What a good mobile RPG progression system actually looks like

I've played enough mobile RPGs to know when a progression system is designed for me and when it's designed to wear me down. The difference usually shows up around hour ten, when the pacing either keeps giving or starts quietly stalling.

The best systems make every level-up mean something. A clear new ability, a noticeable stat jump, a gear slot that opens up. When I can see why I'm grinding and what it unlocks, the grind stops feeling like grind.

The worst offenders hide progression behind vague percentages and daily timers. If a game needs me to log in at fixed hours to keep pace, it's optimizing for habit, not fun. I've dropped good games over exactly this.

When you're trying a new RPG, watch how it handles the mid-game. That's where the honest design shows. A game that keeps the choices interesting past the tutorial curve is one worth staying with.
